Chesapeake Satellite Group

This is a new pilot project for DSAHR. Because DSAHR covers such a large geographic area, we've decided to start smaller sub-groups within each city in Hampton Roads.  This is our first, and hopefully it will be successful enough to help other cities follow suit.  If you would like more information on CSG, or how you can coordinate a Satellite Group in your area,please contact Pamela Smith, our Satellite Coordinator for Chesapeake, at 487-2399 or e-mail at vaprincess1@aol.com or Dynnette Taylor at 749-9496 or dbldtaylor@cox.net.

Inaugural Meeting 3/8/08: Pamela and I got together at my house and talked, shared ideas and made plans for CSG.  We were both so excited to be starting something new and fresh for DSAHR. This is what was decided:

CSG will meet the 3rd Saturday of each month at 10:30 - location will vary

CSG will host a Mom's Night Out each month on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 6:30 - location will vary

CSG Meetings ARE paid for by DSAHR.  All you have to do is RSVP to Pam and show up.  We really must have a head count for paid events because some places require us to pay in advance.  Our monthly meetings/get togethers are for the ENTIRE family.

Mom's Night Out evening's ARE NOT paid for by DSAHR.  However, please RSVP to Pam so that we know what size table to get.

In order to attend any event sponsored by DSAHR, your dues MUST be current.  If dues are truly a hardship for your family, you may contact the office and request an application for a waiver.

Because our group includes families with children of all ages, we will try to plan events that include our young adults/adults with Ds.  Also, if you have an adult daughter with Ds, please feel free to bring her to Mom's Night Out.

April 8th:    Mom's Night Out at Applebee's on Grassfield Pkwy at 6:30

April 26th:  Meet at Chuck E. Cheese on Porstmouth Blvd. in Western Branch at 10:30 a.m.

                 (not the 3rd Saturday because of scheduling conflict)

May 13th:  Mom's Night Out at Plaza Azteca at 1249 Cedar Road at 6:30

May 17th:  Meet at Children's Museum of Virginia, 221 High Street, Portsmouth at 10:30 a.m.
